Course Description
During each of the 14-week sessions that Code Platoon teaches, students are exposed to an intensive curriculum, delivered by industry leaders, that prepare the participants for a new career in the digital economy as software development engineers. A critical component of the training includes professional certifications for each student in Safe Agile and Amazon Web Services (AWS). 100% of students will receive these certifications, as they are expertly woven into the curriculum and build upon skills students have already mastered. The curriculum also includes scripting algorithms using proper data structures and Object-Oriented Programming in Javascript, Python, and Ruby; managing open source databases; building interactive front-end user interfaces through ReactJS; creating enterprise-grade web applications with Django and Ruby on Rails; and an introduction to data science techniques. In order to provide high-quality training to veterans and military spouses, we recruit industry experts as our instructors. Instructors work to foster deeper and more personalized coding and programming skills in our students, continuously improving their workforce training. Students form a bond around their shared experience with the military and understand one another well. Code Platoon pays attention to developing those interpersonal skills and applying them in the corporate world. In Code Platoon’s Beyond Tech curriculum students learn the interpersonal skills necessary to become a world-class developer. This curriculum helps bridge the gap between their military experience and civilian technology companies. Students strengthen their self-knowledge through a personality assessment and develop a customized approach through teamwork, resolution, inclusion, and negotiation exercises. Students complete the Code Platoon curriculum well prepared for their new career as software developers. The job skills that students acquire are highly sought after by employers with a national average starting salary of $68,000. Ongoing tutoring and post-program mentorships facilitated by Code Platoon and our alumni association ensure that the students put their newly acquired knowledge to work, successfully, and as soon as possible. Corporate sponsorships allow our students access to high-level internships upon graduation, leading to lucrative full-time employment opportunities. We provide a direct link between our education and career to our veterans and military spouses.
